Western Cape EMS becomes first government institution to obtain a drone license

The Western Cape Government Health's (WCGH's) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) have become the first government institution in South Africa that will be allowed to fly drones legally which includes flying over public spaces, roads, people and national key points (with permission from landowner or its representatives) after obtaining a Remote Pilot Aircraft Systems Operators Certificate (ROC) from the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).

Update :65 Babies born on Leap Day in public health facilities

Saturday, 29th February 2020, proved to be a bustle of activity for both staff and parents at public health care facilities throughout the Western Cape as 65 babies were born by 15:00 on Leap Day, comprising of 24 boys and 41 girls.

EMS responds to 4 092 incidents over the weekend

29 - 31 May 2020 During the past weekend, the Western Cape Government Health's (WCGH) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to 4 092 incidents. There were 106 incidents in red zone areas, 18 more incidents than last weekend and 83 transport-related incidents, 28 more incidents than last weekend.
