2026 CUNY SPH Harlem Health Initiative Black Maternal Health Week Campaign
What is Black Maternal Health Week? Held annually on April 11 - 17th and founded and led by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance, the goal of the campaign is to "build awareness, activism, and community building to amplify the voices, perspectives, and lived experiences of Black Mamas and birthing people".
This year's theme focuses on the theme "Rooted in Justice and Joy", the CUNY School of Public Health's Harlem Health Initiative conducted this campaign to uplift and honor the work of our powerful colleagues, advocates, and peers through a word cloud and photo collage. By asking the question: "How does justice and joy express in your work on advocating for Black Maternal Health", we hope to hear these powerful stories directly from our communities. Additionally, CUNY SPH HHI also collated resources for sharing with HHI's network of community partners, stakeholders, and advocates.
