Knapp: Michigan football's rebuild must be different for it to work

It's the year 2020, and things haven't gone right for many people around the world. Many things aren't what they used to be, and things will have to change everywhere. Sometimes the change will be permanent instead of temporary. Michigan football is one of those things that needs to make a permanent change.

Shea Patterson is your starting quarterback, deal with it

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - It's the end of the 2017 season and Michigan is coming off an 8-5 season and a bowl game loss to South Carolina. Fans are mixed about the starting quarterback position. Plenty of people were glad that John O'Korn was graduating, but some weren't sold on freshman Brandon Peters as being the guy for 2018.

Michigan has a different type of quarterback in Joe Milton

October 24 will be the beginning of a new era in Ann Arbor. A new quarterback will start for Michigan football this season and that is Joe Milton. Milton has seen a minor amount of playing time in the two years he's been at Michigan, but now he will start instead of being the backup or third-stringer.

With just one drive, Cade McNamara has started a controversy at quarterback for Michigan

The 2020 offseason talk for Michigan football was primarily about the quarterback position and the battle between Joe Milton and Dylan McCaffrey. While it seemed that McCaffrey would win that battle, Milton ended up coming out on top, and McCaffrey would end up opting out of the 2020 season and will transfer away from Michigan after this season.

Michigan's failing defense shows lack of backup plan

Smash mouth football. Running the ball between the tackles. Stiff and tough defenses. Those are usually what you see when Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh leads a team. This year in 2020, we see far from that. We see a struggling offensive line create running lanes for the running backs.

Shea Patterson Proving to be Michigan's Best Quarterback Since Chad Henne

Go back the past decade of quarterbacks who have played for Michigan and the list is long. While I didn't touch on EVERY quarterback that has played at least a snap in Ann Arbor, I focused more on the ones who appeared in double-digit games and did more than just come in to kneel or hand the ball off to the running back.

How My Grandfather Made Me A Detroit Lions Fan

This is probably the hardest thing I have ever had to write in my entire life. Doing so on Fathers' Day makes it even more difficult, but in an odd way, it makes it easier as well. Trying to get such a jumble of thoughts and feelings out when everything is so fresh...

Matthew Stafford is a Better Quarterback Than You Think

Back in March, we here at DetroitLionsPodcast.com talked about Matthew Stafford's passer rating, and just last week we talked about how good Stafford is in the red zone. Now it is time to sum it all together and paint the bigger portrait of Matthew Stafford.
