Environment and Conservation
I'm Alice, a fourth-year Journalism Studies student at the University of Stirling. I've been writing for Brig Newspaper for three years and have been editor of Brig's award-winning sister publication, BRAW Magazine, for two years.
As a passionate travel, features, and culture writer, my areas of interest include conservation and the environment, sailing and watersports, alternative lifestyles, and Scottish arts. My work has been recognised on the national SPA 2026 shortlists in the 'Best Lifestyle Article' and 'Best Culture Writer' categories, and has been published with RYA Scotland, Historic Environment Scotland and the Aberdeen Marine Mammals Project, with work in progress with Intrepid Times, Practical Boat Owner, and Yachts & Yachting. I have also had the opportunity to be published with the Catalan publication Diari de Barcelona (who provided translation) during my time abroad at Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
As editor/co-editor of BRAW, I have collected the SPA award for Best Specialist Publication in Scotland 2025, helped BRAW to reach the national SPA Best Specialist and Best Culture Publication shortlists in 2026, co-produced the first ever physical edition of BRAW, and been recognised by the University of Stirling Students' Union as an equality champion. Currently, I am Editor-in-Chief of Brig Newspaper - so, watch this space!
