Scott Grauer

Writer/editor

United States

My name is Scott Grauer. From Nov. 2014 to July 2015, I was a writer/editor at The Sports Network/STATS LLC. Our newsroom provided sports news and game recaps to clients across the continent.

From Sept. 2017 to Feb. 2018, I was a copy editor at SB Nation. I was responsible fact checking and making sure content adhered to our style guide.

I am also the minor league editor at DRaysBay, part of SB Nation under the Vox Media umbrella. During the season, this position demands daily recaps of all of Tampa Bay's minor league affiliates. I am also responsible for planning and executing draft and offseason content.

While my professional experience is in sportswriting, sports news often involves subjects like health, politics, or crime, so I have the versatility to cover many topics.

Shane McClanahan continues quick ascent through Rays system

On Aug. 4, the Rays did something for only the third time since the departure of Andrew Friedman - promote a player above Class A-Advanced Charlotte in the season after he was drafted. That player was Shane McClanahan. Joe Ryan actually received the same promotion nine days later, and Michael Plassmeyer was a September addition to Durham's staff.

Brendan McKay, the Tampa Bay Rays, and the two-way experiment

Since 2010, the John Olerud Award is presented annually to college baseball's best two-way player. After the last three seasons, the powers at be might want to consider it renaming it after Brendan McKay. The star left-handed pitcher and first baseman, taken fourth overall by the Rays in the draft earlier this month, won the award all three seasons he was on campus.
