Sherri-Chanelle Brighthaupt is a behavioral scientist with strengths in communication, educational instruction, and project implementation. Fascinated by behavior and the power of social phenomena, she earned her BA in psychology from Columbia University and her PhD in Mental Health from Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Brighthaupt is a public health researcher by training with expertise in mental health, substance use epidemiology, and adolescent health. She uses qualitative and quantitative methods to study vulnerable populations and is especially passionate about student-centered engagement and the integration of STEM research and teaching practices.

It's no secret that people-pleasing behaviors are common in higher education. Look no farther than the academy, and you will encounter over-working and over-extension, lack of boundaries, inability to say no, hyper-independence (not asking for help), and having extremely high or perfectionistic standards for performance.
Today I finally learned that if other human beings will not extend you the kindness of humanity, you must take it for yourself. Isn't this common sense? How did domestic terrorists help me learn in 1 day what my therapist has been working on for 8 months?
