Military transition is a stressful time, even when service members aren't attempting it in the middle of a pandemic. Leaving a career and a culture you know to explore a new chapter isn't a simple undertaking. However, half the battle is adopting the right mindset when it comes to your transition.
When many women leave the service, they expect that being a woman in the civilian community will be easier, but that isn't always the case. They have to prove their abilities all over again, earn their place at the table again. As veterans, they're not afraid to prove themselves.
During military transition, veterans often hear that what they did in the military doesn't matter. For the most part, I think the individuals saying these things are trying to be helpful. Unfortunately, I think they choose the wrong words and leave many veterans feeling discouraged, offended, or upset.
