Letter of Recommendation 1 - United States Postal Service (USPS)
This is a letter of recommendation from my supervisor at USPS.
I am a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. My academic training included software engineering, advanced technical writing, instructional design, project management, UI/UX design, learning theory, gamification, curriculum development, multimedia design, educational technology, and educational psychology.
I have 13 years of experience in the Learning and Development field, specializing in web-based training (WBT) and instructor-led training (ILT) for federal agencies, private-sector organizations, and higher education institutions. My federal experience includes developing courses and curricula for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of the Army (DA), and the United States Postal Service (USPS). I hold an active Public Trust clearance and have obtained multiple security clearances throughout my career.
As an eLearning Instructional Design Specialist, I have extensive experience designing and delivering distributed learning solutions across multiple platforms and learning management systems. My expertise includes curriculum design using ADDIE and other instructional design models, task and job analysis, SCORM and HTML development, software testing and quality assurance, data-driven performance analysis, stakeholder and SME collaboration, and leading cross-functional teams. I am particularly skilled in developing engaging, scenario-based, and highly interactive training solutions.
I also bring over a decade of experience using industry-standard eLearning tools and LMS platforms, including Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate Storyline and Rise 360, Captivate, Vyond, Lectora, Camtasia, Canvas, Blackboard, and other multimedia and video production tools.
I currently reside in Oklahoma City with my husband and our dog, Finn.
Technical Skills:
Camtasia:
Created software tutorials, demonstrations, and instructional videos using Camtasia's screen recording capabilities. These projects typically involved voiceover narration that I've done myself or have used AI-generated narration.
Edited and enhanced videos by using features like trimming, splitting, merging, and rearranging clips, as well as adding transitions, titles, and annotations.
Created promotional videos to highlight upcoming training programs and initiatives using TechSmith's digital assets as well as assets sourced elsewhere.
Storyline 360:
Developed highly interactive and engaging online training modules by incorporating various interactive features like quizzes, assessments, drag-and-drop activities, simulations, and branching scenarios.
Created scenario-based courses that put the learner in a realistic scenario where they could make decisions and experience the consequences of their choices. This enabled learners to apply their knowledge and skills in a safe and controlled environment.
Designed knowledge assessments that could export into an LMS as a SCORM 2004 package from Storyline and use the results to identify training gaps for both the individual learner and our training programs.
Built realistic software simulations using screenshots of the software paired with triggers, hotspots, and keyboard inputs in Storyline.
Rise 360:
Created a brand-approved template with a style guide for our team of developers to use. This allowed the developers to rapidly create content while staying within brand guidelines for the organization.
Utilized Rise's microlearning tool to quickly create bite-sized learning offerings that focused on one learning objective.
Integrated Storyline builds into Rise courses when the course needs features or interactions that are not readily available in Rise's pre-packaged templates.
Vyond:
Developed a dynamic Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) video, narrating the journey of a company through its EEO scores, effectively conveying the importance of fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
Created an engaging Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) video in Vyond, portraying the induction of a new call center employee who learns about HIPAA regulations through interactive scenarios, demonstrating a practice and informative approach to compliance training.
Image Manipulation Software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, SnagIt):
Edited and enhanced images by cropping, resizing, and adjusting the color, brightness, and contrast of images, ensuring they align with the desired aesthetic and instructional goals of the eLearning content.
Created and customized diagrams, infographics, illustrations, logos, and icons to help convey information effectively.
Annotated images to call out or highlight specific areas to draw the learner's attention or provide additional information.
ADDIE:
Conducted a detailed analysis of the learners' needs to help tailor the content to ensure it is relevant and engaging.
Used an iterative approach in the design and development phases so the content was under constant refinement based on the feedback of business partners and subject matter experts.
Used Kirkpatrick's Four Levels of Training Evaluation to gauge how the learner progressed from their knowledge baseline. Utilized tools such as learner engagement feedback (smile sheets), knowledge assessments, and on-the-job observations to ensure application of knowledge or to identify potential gaps in training delivery.
