Update: Woman arrested after Broken Arrow-area man fatally shoots three intruders

BROKEN ARROW - The son of a Broken Arrow-area homeowner fatally shot three masked intruders, two of whom were juveniles, during a home invasion Monday, authorities said. Police later arrested an Oologah woman who is believed to be the getaway driver on three complaints of first-degree murder and three complaints of first-degree burglary.

Historic bank safe becomes Wagoner mayor's dresser

On the corner of Main and Cherokee Streets in Wagoner stands a historic building that once housed the First National Bank. The bank opened its doors for business on August 1, 1895. The building serves multiple purposes nowadays, such as office space and living quarters.

Wagoner's flooding concerns linger

With rain undoubtedly in the forecast for the near future, flooding concerns in Wagoner remain a priority after last weekend's heavy storms and rains. With water levels at Fort Gibson Lake well above normal, the result has been a backup of storm water runoff in north Wagoner, though in an area designed for such an occasion.

Wagoner inmates help clean up city properties, main city corridor

The City of Wagoner is implementing some new laborers into its workforce with the new trustee system setup for the city jail's inmates. Eligible inmates, which are usually about two on any given day, work with Sammy Miles of the Wagoner Public Works Authority to clean up city properties and the main business corridor in town.

Shooting deemed justifiable: Authorities say Zach Peters acted lawfully when he shot, killed...

Wagoner County officials said Monday the 23-year-old who shot and killed three masked intruders inside his home on March 27 acted justifiably and would not be charged with any crime. At a press conference on Monday, First Assistant District Attorney Jack Thorp read an official letter from the DA's office, which said Peters "acted in accordance with his rights as an Oklahoma citizen."

Man arrested for Okemah-area murder

A local man is behind bars at the Okfuskee County Jail after allegedly shooting to death his wife's mother with a shotgun during an altercation Saturday evening near Okemah. The altercation that ended in murder involved 34-year-old Anthony Spain and his mother-in-law, Teresa Smith, who was allegedly killed by Spain after he shot her twice with a 12-gauge shotgun at his home, located at 369197 West Highway 56 near Okemah.
