I graduated with a degree in English from San Diego State University and currently work as a Social Media Strategist at progressive nonprofit. My articles have been published on online publications such as, Elite Daily and College Magazine. Research Driven
One morning, I woke up to five Facebook notifications, two retweets on Twitter and about ten Snapchat stories. While the notifications were mostly check-ins by friends and tagged pictures from a decade ago, I still felt like I accomplished something monumental in my sleep.
The Resident Advisor is the person on your floor that you either A) fear more than death itself or B) adore with a familial passion. Rarely in my experience have I witnessed a middle ground. As an RA, I had to put up with residents hating me for no reason and residents who felt drawn to me because I was someone they could talk to.
In college, your professor will assign you an essay to write on a topic they claim to have covered in their lecture three weeks prior. As you peruse the prompt, you glaze over the mundane rules associated with any college essay: Times New Roman, 12pt font, double-spaced.
Human Interest
In my personal experience, the concept of love has always been shrouded in mystery. In books, I would read about unrequited and irrevocable romances. In movies, I would experience grand gestures of boom boxes played outside windows and poems spoken aloud in class as a profession of affection.
I was a crybaby growing up. If someone stole my toy, I would cry. If someone hit me, I would cry. If someone made a joke at my expense, guess what? I would cry. With all those tears shed, you'd be surprised how often I didn't get dehydrated.
