Nike must produce documents for StockX suit, judge says

Adidas expanding Los Angeles office space

Adidas is planning a massive expansion in Los Angeles. The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that the company had a lease for 107,000 square feet in a new Brookfield Asset Management office redevelopment. For the second time in two months, Nike Inc. is suing a competitor for alleged patent infringement. Nike (NYSE: NKE) has filed a lawsuit accusing Lululemon Athletica Inc. GEORGETOWN - Marilyn Hemingway did not watch former police officer Derek Chauvin's conviction for the murder of George Floyd live. Not only was the president of the Gullah Geechee Chamber of Commerce in a meeting when the verdict was read, but she said she tried not to watch the trial at all because it was too much to bear as a Black woman in America.

Wedgefield-area affordable housing development moves forward despite public outcry

GEORGETOWN - Close to 100 residents of a gated, country club community groaned with dismay and cursed April 15 when the planning commission voted for a low-income apartment complex close to their subdivision. Anti-transgender flyer falsely claims Georgetown City Council candidate's views

GEORGETOWN - A flyer sponsored by a dark-money group has been mailed to city residents, urging voters to not elect Democratic council candidate Ronald McInnis over his assumed support of transgender girls competing in girls sports. A group called "Concerned Parents of Georgetown" used the mailed flyer to ask voters to "protect women's and girls' sports" - an inaccurate accusation, according to McInnis.

Georgetown County schools could add full-time counselors; 2021-22 calendar approved

Public comment critical of Georgetown County's intended use of funds leads to deferment

GEORGETOWN COUNTY - After several community members spoke before the Georgetown County Council's Feb. 23 meeting, the council deferred an ordinance to allocate the remaining 2014 Capital Project Sales Tax surplus. A total of 11 community members spoke in strong opposition of the ordinance, demanding it be deferred and saying that they were unhappy with the current allocations.

'Black Southern Belles' showcases emotional Gullah artwork at Brookgreen Gardens

GEORGETOWN COUNTY - Earlier this month, while painting a piece titled "Long Road Home," Sonja Griffin Evans listened to "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver. As the song played on repeat, describing picturesque scenes of roads that take those where they need to go, Griffin Evans painted her own road with a fork in it.

Pendleton family organizes march to end sex trafficking

ANDERSON - About 50 people gathered at the Anderson City Building on Sunday afternoon and marched in downtown Anderson to support the end of child sex trafficking. Dustin and Sydney Stout and their daughters, Layla, 16, and Lily, 13, all of Pendleton, organized the "Save Our Children march," as it was titled on Facebook, because the issue of child sex trafficking has not been talked about enough, they said.

Anderson church welcomes pastor with criminal record

ANDERSON - New Horizons United Methodist Church of Anderson welcomed Jerry Hoss as its new pastor on June 23 via Facebook. Five years ago, Hoss was sentenced to 18 months in the Indiana Department of Correction for a felony charge of official misconduct after he sent inappropriate text messages to two female students when he was principal of Frankton Junior-Senior High School.

ANDERSON - Around 50 people gathered in front of the Anderson Police Department on Monday night to show their peaceful support for the local police. Organizer John Skinner said he wanted to show APD that its community supported it in wake of the criticism he felt police in general were receiving in the last several weeks.

Young leaders emphasize political action in Anderson protest march

ANDERSON - Several stacked cases of water bottles threatened to topple, while chips, granola and other snacks nearly overflowed a wagon pulled by an organizer. One attendee of the Friday protest march from Anderson's west side to downtown offered sunblock to anyone who needed it, while another attendee posed for a photo with a sign that read "Racism: America's original sin."

'A really good man': Family grieves man's death in tree trimming accident

ANDERSON -Two-year-old Emma pulled a tissue from the box next to Virginia Lusher and handed it to her. Virginia smiled at her daughter and dabbed the skin under her eyes. "He was just that person that was just so different from everybody else, and just so charming and charismatic," Virginia Lusher said of her husband, Michael.
