Staples' defense gets stingy in win over Ridgefield

WESTPORT -After Week 3, Staples was 1-2 after a loss to Cheshire. Seven weeks later, the Wreckers enter the final week of the season with a chance to make the Class LL playoffs. After just six first-half points, the Staples offense found its footing and the Wrecker defense held Ridgefield scoreless in the second half to beat the Tigers 26-10 Friday night.

Windham boys basketball overcame many obstacles to win first state title

Whether it was COVID-related issues, fighting through gym renovations, or just being at full strength, Windham saw it all this season. After their 58-49 loss to Killingly on Jan. 14, Windham fell to 2-5 to begin their season. Yet 64 days later, Paul Martineau and his team were crowned state champions.

Sacred Heart aims for third straight NEC football title

As the Northeast Conference seemingly changes year after year, Sacred Heart's success within the league remains one of the few constants. The Pioneers prepare to kick off the 2022 football season on Sept. 3 on the road against Lafayette with hopes of claiming the program's third consecutive conference crown after winning titles in the spring and fall of 2021.

Bloomfield boys basketball player Lake McLean debuts clothing line 'New Apollo' at state...

There was a new and fresh look to the Bloomfield boys' basketball team Sunday prior to being crowned state champion. Senior Lake McLean launched his personal clothing brand, "New Apollo" at Mohegan Sun Arena. The Warhawks debuted the senior's clothing line in warm-up lines prior to Bloomfield's 58-54 Division IV championship win tilt over Granby.
