Insane Clown Posse roars through Lowcountry with P.O.D. and more

In 1989, a rather bizarre wind began to blow through the city of Detroit, taking on the different odors of the dismal industrial parks and the cold winters that populate this southeastern part of Michigan.

Canadian grindcore band F*** the Facts back at The Jinx

When it comes to underground heavy music, it is hard to imagine the lifespan of a band as being longer than five years; for a grindcore band, it's even shorter. Usually the group will produce an LP or two and do a decent amount of touring until they realize being on the road all the time is more than traveling and playing.

David Liebe Hart is coming to The Wormhole on Sept. 17, and he wants you all to know that he doesn't like drugs. "People need to know that they need to stay away from drugs and alcohol!" Liebe Hart exclaims, his voice crackling through the phone speaker during an interview last week.

Folk punk comes to Savannah with Nana Grizol

Folk punk has always been seen as a rather enigmatic genre of music, the marriage of two complete opposites: the gentle, lulling sounds of folk do not seem as though they would merge with the loud, abrasive chords of what would be considered traditional punk.

Scott H. Biram brings bluesy country sound back to Savannah

It is a difficult task to describe the arc of award-winning one-man band Scott H. Biram's musical career: It's taken him to stages all across America, Canada and Europe, touring or playing alongside acts like Shooter Jennings, Clutch, Weedeater and even Reverend Horton Heat.

Black Tusk never too big for the hometown crowd

Teeth marks line the cobblestone streets of Savannah as a reminder of the fangs Black Tusk has cut here in their rise to success. They're considered one of the heaviest sludge metal bands on the scene, even branding their music as "swamp metal," a term of endearment referring to the swamps that surround this town.

Kylesa brings crushing, unexpected sound to The Jinx

It's important to know what forces inspire ingenuity in artists, but when posed with this question, Phillip Cope and Laura Pleasants of Kylesa had a surprising response. "The only thing that I remember that all of us agreed on and never argued about was Fugazi," Cope said with a determined tone.

The Jinx brings a night of stoner metal with Weedeater, Kings Destroy

Ice clinks against a glass as a light and airy organ begins to play an entrance hymn, joined by the slight twang of a bent guitar string. So far, this is an unusual start to an album from Weedeater, the classic stoner metal band that hails from the hills of North Carolina.

Savannah-based Spider and the Bottle weave a unique tale through art

Over the past six months, I've found myself running into two of the most enigmatic individuals I've ever seen haunting the streets of Savannah. They're both filthy, with unkempt hair and pants covered in paint, but what really caught my eye are the thick, black leather bomber jackets they always wear, with the phrase "Spider and the Bottle" emblazoned on the back.

Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out bring bluegrass sound to Springfield

Springfield is well known throughout South Georgia as a very small town. The most recent census clocks the little city as having a population of no more than 2,800 people. Yet despite its size, Springfield has a true hidden gem in the recently re-opened Mars Theatre.

Chelsea Wolfe: Abyss | Review

Album Reviews Chelsea Wolfe has been teasing Abyss to the world for the past couple of months with songs like "Carrion Flowers," "Iron Mind," and "After the Fall," These songs prove that everything the Los Angeles-based artist has previously released was merely groundwork for her vision.

Album Reviews The release of Deafheaven's 2013 record Sunbather have left both fans and critics wondering how the Los Angeles based quintet will be able to top the sound that has taken them around the world for the past two years. Believe me, it's a question I've asked myself on multiple occasions.

Review: Blues night at the Savannah Music Festival

I was able to catch Jarekus Singleton, along with the Heritage Blues Orchestra, showcase their music March 21 for the Savannah Music Festival, and the performance was simply sublime. The Heritage Blues Orchestra opened their set with a slew of head-bopping, feet-stomping old blues tunes which came to an eventual halt as the majority of the band exited the stage.
