Kate Blalock has been to seventeen countries on five continents. A former mechanic in the US Coast Guard, she has inspected fishing vessels off the coast of Cape Cod, bartered for fuel in Haiti, and replaced engine parts during a storm at sea. She has driven through twenty-eight states and been lost more times than she cares to admit.

She is a former dog groomer, concert trumpet player, and mechanic. She has ridden a horse through the Great Smoky Mountains, renovated a log cabin in Michigan, and ran a 5K in New Hampshire. Currently, she is a homemaker, mother, and freelance writer.

Kate is in her senior year at the University of North Dakota, pursuing her Bachelor's of Arts in Communication. She is a freelance writer for Textbroker International, contributes regularly to the travel blog "Painted Elephants on Parade", and manages the DIY blog "Making Lemons Outta Lemonade".

Kate lives with her husband and son in Maine.

A Day in Old City, Cartagena
