Showstopper 5.5. Ct Opal Necklace

This opal and diamond necklace is a sensation. A 5.5 ct. diamond-decked opal pendant is suspended from a delicate rose gold chain; asymmetric gold and diamond pavé charms put the diamond total at .25 cts. Wear with a dress in the opal’s bright green and blue palette, or with plain black to give this winning number all the attention. Perfect for the woman who needs a go-to necklace that will stop the show from opening night to last call.

Beauty Without Substance

Four galleries, 80 works and one subject: The nude female form. In “Beauty Without Glamour,” an exhibition at the Russian Museum, the nude in Russian photography is examined in all its variety from the 1940s to the present. While the exhibit invites viewers to engage in answering a question — Is a beautiful picture of a naked woman possible without objectifying the subject? — it provides little direction for them to give a satisfactory answer to, or even consideration of, that question.

Ben Gocker's "Scaredy Cat City" at P.P.O.W

"But it doesn't rhyme." That is the complaint most often levied at contemporary poetry. Where to find merit in a bunch of sentences cut at odd angles? Ben Gocker is a trained poet, untrained artist-whatever those terms mean to anyone these days.

Playing With Space: Matthias Bitzer's "Saturnine Swing" at Marianne Boesky

At the opening of German artist Matthias Bitzer's first solo show in New York at Marianne Boesky Gallery on East 64th Street, the artist trailed behind a group of exhibition goers, answering questions about his work ("it's all from my stack of shit"-in response to a query about whether a collage was made from found images or his own) and carrying a glass of white wine (none of which was made available to the rest of us).
