Charlotte Simpson

Writer

United Kingdom

I'm a freelance writer, journalist and communications specialist.

I've worked in the media since 2004 - as a writer, researcher and broadcaster. I have an English degree from Cambridge and an MA in Creative Writing.

I was at the BBC for ten years - mainly making factual programmes for Radio 4. In 2013 I moved away from broadcasting to focus on writing.

With professional experience writing blogs, press articles and social media, through to direct mail, digital and corporate copy, I've got the skills to help you find the words.

Your words. Your voice. But clearer, sharper, stronger.

My recent clients include the international street children's charity, Railway Children, and leading UK school reviewer The Good Schools Guide.

I've also written for The Guardian, The Big Issue North and Standard Issue as well as countless scripts and trails for BBC Radio 4.

If you want to get people talking - for all the right reasons - email me. I'll get you heard.

Film review: Pride

I've been trying to think of a dazzlingly fresh and erudite opening line for my review of Pride but nothing quite hits the spot. All I really want to say is "Oh my God, I loved this film!"

Comment piece

Richard Dawkins says it's as preposterous to talk of a Christian or a Muslim child as it is to announce your newborn is a Keynesian or a Gramscian Marxist. He's made this argument once or twice before and he said it again on Wednesday at the Westminster Faith Debate on religion in schools.
