Gucci Files Counterfeit Lawsuit in Florida

Luxury Daily reports a lawsuit by Italian luxury brand Gucci, against a couple of e-commerce sites, in an effort to safeguard themselves against counterfeiting. According to news, “the label recently went after web domains and individual merchants on online trading community iOffer in a suit in the Florida Southern District Court. Although this case is not likely to stop counterfeiters, it could prevent them from targeting Gucci in the future.”

Italy Drops in Sales Revenue for Summer Season

Pambianco News today claims that the Federazione Moda Italia reports less than expected revenue in Italy during the summer discount season. According to a report they recently made, spanning as much as 700 Italian businesses, sales for this period had dropped at 7.5 percent, with an average of 80 euros spent per person.

L Brands Posts Increase in Profit

American group L Brands, recently posted good results for their Q2 profits, exceeding analysts expectations. According to their financial statements, the group was able to earn a net income of as much as 178.9 million USD, signaling a 24.5 percent growth from last years 143.6 million.

Bottega Veneta Sales Increase in Double Digits

Luxury brand Bottega Veneta reported good results for Q2 of 2013. Financial results show the company to have garnered sales amounting to 236 million, signaling a 17 percent growth. As per the first half of the year, the company earned as much as 465 million, growing at 13 percent.

Zara Founder fined 33 Million for Taxes

Amancio Ortega, one of the richest men in the world, as well as owner to the globally known Spanish fast-fashion group Inditex, was said to have been fined around 33 million in euros for taxes that were unpaid between the years 2001 and 2003.

LVMH acquires Italian brand Loro Piana

Luxury group LVMH was recently reported to have purchased Italian brand Loro Piana, known for producing luxury cashmere. The purchase consisted of 80% of the company, at a price of 2 billion euros, with the remaining 20% still owned by Pier Luigi and Sergio Loro Piana.
