United States

Hi, I'm Nick Makowitz.

I grew up in Sparta, New Jersey, where sports completed dominated my childhood. I played basketball and baseball since I could dribble a ball and hold a bat, and I even worked at a nearby baseball stadium during summers in high school.

At Penn State, where I studied business, I was fortunate enough to find a group of friends who shared that childlike-joy for sports.

We played every intramural sport the university offered, watched all the big games together, and, of course, talked incessantly about our bets.

After my junior year, I was lucky enough to be granted an internship opportunity at Yankee Stadium.

While living in New York City and working at Yankee Stadium was one of the most unique experiences of my life, I realized that stadium operations and management wasn't for me.

Having felt like I gave a career in sports a fair shot (dumb), I moved on and accepted a job in supply chain for American Eagle Outfitters.

A year or two into my corporate 9-5, I realized I still needed sports in my life. Watching sports on TV and throwing $20 on Hawaii's midnight college football games wasn't the fix I was looking for.

I've always had a passion for writing and data and figured I could try to pair the two together.

In the summer of 2021, I started writing voluntarily for Championship Sports Media, a startup founded by a handful of college kids whose passion and drive closely resembled my own from a few years prior.

After a few months of writing opinion pieces on NFL betting and fantasy football, I applied to and was awarded a contract position with VegasInsider.com.

Since then, I've written over 25 articles consisting of sports betting industry news and commercial content relating to online sportsbooks and casinos.

I absolutely love writing about all-things sports, and I'm always looking to gain exposure to different areas of the sports writing industry.
