Writer, Renaissance Woman, Mischief-maker

Location icon United States

I am a Brooklyn-based Mexican-American woman who was raised in a small sugar beet town in the Midwest. I lived in southern Mexico from my late teens to early twenties where I worked in bars, in an art school, and sold handmade batik bags on the street before making my way to San Francisco in 2006. I hold an AFA from Delta College, a BA in Anthropology from UC Berkeley and an MA in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from NYU. Until last year, I worked day and night with my husband in our Mexican-Taiwanese restaurant in Brooklyn. I have worked as an artist model, an actor, youth mentor, program coordinator, translator, tour guide, dog-walker, dishwasher, bartender and interpretive dancer. Through all of these varied job titles, I was actively writing. I am a writer.

I am currently working on a memoir while sharing my opinion wherever it fits (or doesn't). You can read my rants on Meetthedogwalker.wordpress.com. I love writing about culture, humans and their creations, food and drink, art, books, film, travel, and of course, my inner musings. Copy-editing, Creative and Non-Fiction requests welcome. Se habla espaƱol.
