If not for 11th and 12th grade English and Mrs. Mitchell, much of high school would have been a forgettable experience. It was in this class, with this inspiring teacher, that I discovered I had a voice and thoughts and opinions and questions. As a class, we read, wrote, discussed, debated, laughed, and became friends. This is when I learned to love writing. As a very withdrawn adolescent, the freedom and ability to express my thoughts opened up a whole new world to me. As a very introspective adult, my love affair with writing has continued.
I earned an associate's in Journalism in college along with my bachelor's in Political Science. I went on to get my elementary teaching credential and Masters in Education. I taught for over 15 years and attempted to transfer my love of reading and writing to my students. As I look to begin my second career, writing remains a passion and one I hope to pursue further.
