Jim Cable is a Kew-trained professional gardener and garden writer with a particular interest in Mediterranean plants. He has worked in horticulture for 27 years, including as an interior landscaper, community garden manager, deputy head gardener of the Chelsea Physic Garden and head gardener at Croxteth Hall walled garden, Liverpool. His foray into writing began with a monthly column in the Church Times which ran for 10 years. He now contributes across the gardening press but primarily to The Financial Times and The English Garden. Jim is first and foremost a plantsman. He is interested in how people's horticultural choices reflect their personalities and our emotional response to plants and flowers. His own garden, 'The Deanery', errs on the wild side and enjoys the Gulf Stream in Llandaff, Cardiff.
