Think: custom!
Recently, one of our customers contacted us to request that the PDF of his resume be ‘converted’ to an MS Word document.
So what’s the moral of this story? Customise, customise, customise!
One of the things we constantly advocate at Ready Resumes is to customise your resume to the job you’re applying for.
That means, instead of sending out a single generic resume, you should emphasise experience or information that’s especially relevant to the job for which you’re applying. This will help employers see more clearly why you’re the right person for the job.
Similarly, it’s a good idea to ‘customise’ your resume’s format for the receiver. Make sure the person/company receiving your resume can accept whatever format you’re sending, whether it’s a PDF, Word, fax or printed copy. Avoid the reject pile – send the right format!
Customising – it’s part of the reason we created the DIY backgrounds. Using a background gives you the same eye-catching power, but also the flexibility of changing your resume whenever you want.
Happy job hunting!
