Once upon a time an illustrator by the name of Hans Arnold (22 April 1925 - 25 October 2010) bewildered and frightened the kids of the late 60's Swedish-hippie generation. A pioneer of his time, he introduced the spooky horror-art to kids in childrens' book.
The long awaited South African full-length documentary The African Cypher (from 2012) is finally out and here to amaze; 89-minutes of raw dancing and cutthroat stories by ZA's finest street crews. We fell in love with the trailer (above) and urge you to stream the full length version (like, yesterday).

Heather Ferrigan from Stocktown spoke to Johannesburg-born, Stockholm-based photographer Kamohelo Khoaripe about his series Freedom of Hate Speech and his war on verbal abuse. The Mahlangu Art Car was exhibited at the Frieze Art Fair in London (5- 9 October 2016) sold by silent auction, the proceeds went to the "Art Room" project, which supports children aged five to 16 in their development using art as a medium.

Mia Mäkilä is renowned for her horror art globally, capturing the dark sides of life with a cute twist. She's based in Stockholm and describes her art as "horror pop-surrealism" or "dark lowbrow", which shortly said is an art form depicting a blend of horror and humour, with ironising pop cultural references.
No Gibberish by SMUDSPEPP 'Stoked on dirt' (smuds:dirt // pepp: stoked) could be the most graphic way of describing the aesthetics of the duo art collective Smudspepp, formed by Stockholm-based Sebastian Eriksson and Tomas Nilsson. Confusing as that description may sound; the project is the most liberating, straightforward, laissez faire art movement to hit the art scene here in Stockholm since...too long.
Stockholm underground artist The Birdwhale a.k.a Molly Abrahamsen, describes herself as a "-colibri constantly flying from one flower to another"-, aside from being a multitasking artist, she currently works at the collective art studio Pyhakko in Sofo, and has a huge fascination with birds and whales- she is a birdwhale.

If there’s a director Swedish rappers wish to co-work with, the person listed at the very top of the list would be Senay Berhe. With previous productions such as ‘Blått blod’ (= Blue blood) and Ison & Fille’s video for ‘Vår Sida Av Stan’, not to mention a trained eye for capturing slow-mo shots magically – Senay’s work is tailored for hip hop videos.

A graffiti movement booming in Brazil since the 80′s and consists of street artists (pixadores) bombing tags in high unreachable places, using the city walls to spread their message and highlight social gaps.
