Coming off a 77-76 win against the University of Toledo on Saturday night, the Saint Joseph’s University men’s basketball team defeated the Columbia University Lions on Monday, Nov. 14 by a final score of 85-65. In total, the Hawks made 32 of 58 shots and had eight turnovers, down from the 13 they had in Saturday’s game.
For the third time in four games, the Saint Joseph’s University men’s soccer team shut out their opponent. The Hawks took on Philadelphia Soccer Six rival Villanova University on Tuesday night, resulting in a 0-0 draw.
Cheered on by a loud, energetic crowd on Alumni and Family Day, the Saint Joseph's University men's lacrosse team defeated Bryant University 10-9 in overtime on April 16. With the win, the Hawks improved to 9-2 overall, and 4-0 in the Northeast Conference.
After his final season of high school basketball, Brendan Casper didn’t have any offers from Division I colleges or universities. Sure, he had offers from Division II colleges in the Philadelphia area, but something was telling him that he should attend a Division I school.
Senior Sarah Fairbanks was the captain of the Saint Joseph's University women's basketball team this past season, and is one of the best players in the school's history. Fairbanks is third all-time in blocked shots (113), tenth in rebounds (636), and 19th in points (1,064).
Lindsey Oremus does it all. She's a volunteer firefighter, an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), the former Student Council president of Dallas High School, and a current member of the Saint Joseph's University cross country and track teams. Oremus, a freshman at Saint Joseph's University, is from Wyoming, Pa., a small town in the Scranton-Wilkes Barre area.
Athletic recruiting at Saint Joseph’s University isn’t just about finding the best players; it’s about finding the players who best fit the atmosphere of the campus and the team as a whole, according to field hockey Head Coach Lynn Farquhar.
For the eighth consecutive season, the Cherry Hill East boys' swimming team captured the South Public A sectional championship. The defending state champion Cougars, knocked off Egg Harbor Township 114-56 for the sectional title on Feb. 10 "I love that we can honor the past East swim teams by winning consecutive sectional championships," coach Joe Cucinotti said.
"There was no other way to describe it, other than he was Neil York." Although the words come from Thomas Cuddihy, '18, the sentiment resonates amongst all members of the Saint Joseph's University men's rugby team. "It's nothing you can really put in words," said Nick Hopkins, '16.
