As a City and Regional Planning graduate student at Cornell University, I have focused my studies on how strategic planning and innovative designs have utilized the latest technology and planning tools for multifarious aspects needed to bring projects to fruition. I have researched how organizations balance the scale between developing feasible initiatives, complying with federal environmental policies, and producing creative design solutions. While interning for a City Council member who sat on multiple committees making legislative decisions that directly effected the thousands of residents living in New York City, I was given the opportunity to work on the policy side of City Planning. Simultaneously I participated in a design workshop developing a conceptual framework for the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP). The work my team produced for our clients, allowed for direct involvement with two City agencies and the opportunity to create innovative designs to prevent combined sewer overflows into the Hudson River during peak storm events. Having focused my research around sustainability via waste models and initiatives, I am eager to apply my knowledge and experience to creating healthy and sustainable communities and reducing built environment barriers.
