When I looked at taking this class I saw the opportunity for creativity. In journalism you get to express both your views and go deep into the views of others. It gave me soft skills from interviewing and how to look at stories in different perspectives and I can take this into my future and use these skills that I have earned from this class, into the possibility of joining yearbook and/or newspaper for the school.
I liked the calm environment and the healthy creative cloud we all shared. There really wasn't anything I disliked about this class, it was such an amazing opportunity. The only thing I would change or adjust for the future years is the amount of effort you have to put in. It consumes a lot of personal time outside of school which however was draining at times, it was good to get a real world look on what being a journalist was like.
Law & Ethics- I did not complete this assignment fully however it was interesting to start, looking through the history into what got us where we are today in the world of journalism and freedoms. Shattered Glass(10/04/2018)- was a really good movie, about a guy working for a big company called The New Republic; however, was found making up all of his stories that he was publishing. This just goes to teach how we need to make sure we have all the facts straight and good solid stories....
These quizzes were fairly easy because we got to use our AP Style books, and it was fun to learn how to properly write things out and identify words Newsworthiness (09/11/2018): This project really helped me learn how to select a story smartly, you want to find one that people WANT to read and want to know about. Something that won't bore them, but will keep them interesting and surprise them even.
Hacker Story- This was a really interesting assignment to do since it was a real world example and it applied to our school directly and recently, which made it relatable. I enjoyed doing a real example to put a little more emotion into it Leads(8/27/2018)- This assignment was really important to me because this gave us the basics to all of story writing. In my opinion, we have to always get to the "nitty-gritty" for us to write a good story. This focuses on the big W's which is what you end...
This was a really fun story/assignment to complete because I enjoyed working with and interviewing my peer, Chloe. She was really open and willing to help me with this story and the whole process with her was great!
Pathfinder(08/31/2018)- This was a really fun assignment, cause we weren't really writing but we were using tools to create the imagery aspect of journalism. It was fun to see and use a bunch of different tools to create and make fun shapes and symbols Typography(09/20/2018)- I loved this assignment because in my day to day writing and notes I already enjoy using and making different fonts to capture and highlight different ideas. So incorporating that into journalism was really...
This was actually a very easy and fun project, since I got to make a creative infographic featuring one of my favorite skills, hair. This infographic was fairly easy to create since it didn't require super intricate details but had very simple shapes and pictures
I love using Indesign s this project was really cool! The application is a really creative and fun choice for designing very colourful and detailed stories
This assignment was the final touch for our 1 in 1600 project. The promos are what we would advertise for readers to go and read our stories, this is what would get them excited and intrigued into reading it. Slideshow(12/06/2018)- This was a series of photos layered with our audio making kind of a dramatic tone to the interview. I enjoyed making it and adjusting the audios only to have Chloe (my subject) the only one speaking about her dance life.
This project was also another fun assignment however I was able to use my digital camera instead of my iPhone which gave me a good looking outcome in my images, and it was fun to apply new photography skills from journalism that I had learned as well as skills that I had already known and was able to apply
This was a fairly easy project since Im's very familiar with editing and adjusting photos. I liked the application, Adobe Photoshop, and I was also able to use Adobe Lightroom
