I work mainly in sport, fitness and technology.

I have specialist experience within the Olympic and Paralympic Games and other global events, having worked at the heart of an Organising Committee and contributed to a number of successful event bids. I know my way around the often challenging requirements of stakeholders, rights-holders, International Federations, sponsors and licensees, and am currently involved with various Tokyo 2020 projects.

I write high-profile thought leadership content. My clients include digital solutions giant Atos and shock absorption specialist D3O. I communicate clearly and persuasively about complex technological innovations for non-specialist audiences.

With a long background in health and fitness journalism, I'm familiar with everything active from HIIT to Hellerwork.

Currently I work in partnership with LookUp Communications on a number of strategic sport and technology projects, and with art director and illustrator Christopher Allen.


I spent more than four years as Senior Content Manager in the Communications and Public Affairs team at the London 2012 Organising Committee. The team won PR Week's 'Campaign of the Year' award for 2012.

During this time, I planned, wrote and edited thousands of pieces of content for a wide range of technical, operational and commercial platforms.

I wrote and edited a number of key strategic publications, including the Official Report of the Games. I was also part of the content development team for the biggest ever Olympic licensed publishing programme.

Previously I was sport and fitness editor of Time Out magazine, writing a weekly commentary on London's sporting and healthy living scene. I wrote and edited three editions of Time Out Guides' celebrated ‘Sport, Health & Fitness in London’ publication, and provided editorial management and client liaison for Time Out Brand Solutions.

While at Time Out I was twice runner-up in the magazine feature-writing category of the British Sports Journalism Awards.

I've written for a vast array of print and digital titles, from the Guardian to Bluffer's, the Sunday Times to Cricket World, The School Run to Health & Fitness.


I've written seven books, including the Sunday Times best-seller ‘The Lad Done Bad: Sex, Sleaze and Scandal in English Football’ (Penguin), and contributed to a dozen more.

'Master the Art of Running’ (Collins &Brown) was described in the Independent on Sunday as one of the ten best fitness books ever written and has been translated into Dutch and Japanese. ‘Master the Art of Working Out’ is a companion title. Both books explore how the Alexander Technique can be applied to physical activity.

My first book, 'Soccer City' (Mandarin), proved to be a prescient look at English football during the Premier League era.

I am currently developing a book about the history of the fitness industry.
