MANUFACTURING DECLINES IN MARCH - Australian Manufacturing

The manufacturing sector declined slightly in March after expanding for the last three months. The latest seasonally adjusted Australian Industry Group - PwC Australian Performance of Manufacturing Index (Australian PMI®) fell almost 2 points to 49.5 points. New orders were down 3.5 points to 48.2 and exports were nearly 10 points weaker.

Australian Manufacturing contracts for tenth month - Australian Manufacturing

The manufacturing sector continued to contract for the tenth consecutive month in December. The Australian Industry Group's Australian Performance of Manufacturing Index (Australian PMI) reached 44.3 points and remained unchanged from November. (Readings below 50 indicate a contraction in activity with the distance from 50 indicative of the strength of the decrease).

Australian Manufacturing Ranks Worst Among 19 Nations - Australian Manufacturing

Australian manufacturing is the least productive in the developed world with productivity falling 4% in 2011 according to a United States Bureau of Labor Statistics report. Japan closely followed Australia with a fall of approximately 3 per cent and Italy also recorded a fall in productivity.

ORICA TO BUILD AMMONIUM NITRATE PLANT IN WA - Australian Manufacturing

Australian explosives giant Orica has announced that it will build a US$800M (approximately A$815M) ammonium nitrate plant in a joint venture with Yara International and Apache Energy on the Burrup Peninsula in the Pilbara region. Ammonium nitrate is a base ingredient for civil explosives which are widely used by the mining industry.

The manufacturing sector fell sharply in April following a slight decline in March. The latest seasonally adjusted Australian Industry Group - PwC Australian Performance of Manufacturing Index (Australian PMI®) fell 5.6 points to 43.9 points. MANUFACTURING HITS 3 YEAR LOW IN JULY - Australian Manufacturing

Manufacturing slumped to a 3 year low in July with the seasonally adjusted Australian Industry Group-PwC Australian PMI falling almost 7 points to approximately 40 points. (Readings below 50 points indicate contraction in manufacturing activity). Almost all sub-sectors recorded declines in activity with the exception of the food and beverage subsector which recorded a slight increase.

Manufacturing Hits Nine Month Low - Australian Manufacturing

Manufacturing has fallen to its lowest level since September 2011. According to the latestest Australian Industry Group - PwC Australian Performance of Manufacturing Index (Australian PMI®), manufacturing fell 1.5 points to 42.4 points following falls in March and April. Nine of the twelve sub-sectors declined with the construction materials sector plummeting almost 27 points.
