He Is, She Is, We Are Human: An Ugly Incident to Learn From

A few weeks ago, I decided to take a nighttime stroll to Sands with a friend. It was a warm night, the sky was completely clear and the Milky Way was vividly apparent to the naked eye. As we walked back home down DP, it felt like a perfect night.

Mindful Music

Music is one of the most beautiful and unique phenomenons to the human race. It has the ability to bring us from utter sorrow to pure ecstasy in the matter of a few minutes. Each genre and even song can evoke a new feeling within in us.

Sex, Love and Politics

Over winter break, I made a trip back home to Dallas and got the chance to catch up with some friends from high school. It was my first time going back since the election, so I was hesitant yet curious to hear how some of them felt about our country's current state.

When Casual Dating Becomes Not So Casual

Choices and Cheating

Like many others, I've had some up-close and personal experience with cheating. My parents' marriage (and divorce) involved cheating, and lots of it. I was first made aware of my mom's adultery when I was 12. Finding out this negative and damaging information without a doubt assisted in shaping my views on cheating.

The Telling of Time

"Timing is everything." This is a saying we've all heard and have probably all come to learn is pretty accurate. As college students, we are constantly reminded of the importance of time. We regularly face due dates and deadlines, and on top of that, the quarter system seems to make time slip by within the blink of an eye.

Moving Up and Moving On: Breaking Patterns

Life is full of patterns. These patterns identify as both physical and metaphorical. As humans, we have the tendency to develop various patterns of our own in both thought and behavior. Some of us seem to find ourselves getting into the same type of toxic relationship over and over again, each time noticing the warning signs yet choosing to ignore them only to find ourselves feeling disappointed and burned.

Attachment in an Unattached Love

According to Webster's Dictionary, the word attachment can be defined as " the condition of being attached to something or someone in particular. Specifically, having affection, fondness or sympathy for someone." Based on this definition, the concept of this word "attachment" appears to be pretty simple. However, attachment is anything but simple.

I think it's pretty safe to say that living in Isla Vista is an experience that is unlike any other. From the beautiful location to the diverse and vibrant community that inhabits it, Isla Vista possesses many qualities that we should all be thankful for.
