David Thackham

Passionate. Dedicated. Ready.

Hi, I'm David. I'm a sports journalist with The Times in Gainesville, Ga.

I recently finished a selective summer sports internship at the Daily Press in Newport News, Va. I graduated with a degree in mass communication from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C. in May 2014.

Back when I was in Rock Hill, I was a sports correspondent with newspapers around York County and held over three years of work with Winthrop's student newspaper, The Johnsonian. I've had years of experience covering professional, collegiate and high school athletics, as well as a variety of general assignment beats along the way.

I've had the pleasure to work with several newspapers and media outlets, including the Charlotte Observer, the Rock Hill (S.C.) Herald, Clemson University's IPTAY, The Fort Mill Times, The (Seneca, S.C.) Journal.

Have a question for me? A story you'd like me to chase?
