Obituary: Rob Ford dies at 46 from rare cancer

Rob Ford, the former Toronto mayor who became an international celebrity for his inebriated political antics, died March 22. He was 46. Ford had battled pleomorphic liposarcoma, a rare form of cancer, since late 2014. He underwent surgery in mid-2015 to remove the cancer, but two new tumours appeared soon after.

Health Minister Jane Philpott confirms 9 cases of Zika virus in Canadians

The number of Canadians infected with the Zika virus has risen to nine, Health Minister Jane Philpott said Wednesday. The minister said there have been no cases of locally transmitted Zika virus in Canada. "We can assume that they were most likely mosquito-borne, but they were all contracted [outside] the country, not local transmission," Philpott said.
