Cap, who's served as a police officer for 22 years, was among 89 women chosen throughout the United States to attend the Vote, Run, Lead program offered by The White House Project.
Lansing Police Chief Dan McDevitt said Monday morning that members of the Thornton Fractional South High School football team and other volunteers helped put sandbags along the Little Calumet River at 169th Court and Wentworth Avenue. MUNSTER | For the first time, an Out of the Darkness Community Walk will take place in Munster. The event, which raises money for suicide prevention and awareness, is set for Sept. 13 at Centennial Park. Two of the walk's biggest supporters are Barbara Smich and Nancy Rodgers, who lost their sons to suicide.
