The injuries caused Ferro to miss valuable training time, and Smith said the third-year Lumberjack's ability to work on his craft was nearly cut in half. Ferro stayed healthy his first year at Northern Arizona for the first time in what was a long while, but it came in a redshirt season.

NAU student-athletes make their voices heard

As Americans across the country protest police brutality and racial injustice, Northern Arizona student-athletes want to make their voices heard as well. Many attended the protests in Flagstaff or back in their hometowns, peacefully protesting and calling for justice in the aftermath of the deaths of George Floyd, who died at the knee of Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin, Breonna Taylor, who was killed in her residence by Louisville police officers, and others across the United States.

NAU's DeBisschop, other conference bigs growing up together in college

With so many four-year players coming and going through the Big Sky Conference each season, it makes sense there is so much familiarity between some of the league's best big men. Brooks DeBisschop has become one of the most versatile in the Big Sky just in time for Northern Arizona's resurgence on the hardwood this year, along with fellow Big Sky seniors Mason Peatling and Joshua Patton.
