For those among our readership above a certain age, it may be difficult to understand the unique position Smash Mouth holds in the mythology of the 90's Kid. There was a period of a couple years at the turn of the new millennium when they were so ubiquitous that a young, musically-uninformed person could be forgiven for thinking they were the only "rock band" putting out music at the time.
Buckethead's performance at the Westcott Theater began 35 minutes late with mixed tracks of repeating brass and antique suspense movie clips. It played for a packed audience and an empty stage, which bore only a single guitar and a mix station. When Buckethead arrived on stage, he didn't wave.
I mean, Imagine Dragons though, right? They're one of the most popular rock bands currently operating, and have been for the past decade. They've released hit after hit. Their music, it seems, has been featured in every other movie, TV show and car commercial that's been produced.
