Welcome to inside my head, random thoughts about everyday things, as well as proclaiming the challenges in my life and figuring out how to get through them. Being the analytical thinker that I am, curiosity is one of my strongest motives. This trait makes me a great problem solver.

I have loved creative writing since my early years always excelling in English.

At the age of 15, I was involved in an ATV accident which resulted in the death of a close family member. This tragedy left my family and I grief-stricken, but I discovered that through writing, I could begin to heal.

I have been married to a paraplegic man for 16 years now. It has been an enlightening experience for me to say the least. I have a constant reminder when I may be taking something for granted. I look his way and immediately wonder how he does it every day of his life.

In May of 2016, my father was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia; a brutal diagnosis. I was one of his 3 main caretakers and although it was disheartening to see him go through it, I feel very blessed to have had that time with him. He passed away in August of 2016. I was a hot mess for months afterward, but with grief counseling and the support of loving friends and family, I am surpassing the worst.

One great thing that came from my dad's leukemia diagnosis, is that I became involved with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and am helping others who are living with blood cancer. My dad was proud of me. I will always be a volunteer for The LLS as a way to keep my father's legacy alive.

I studied creative writing online through the College of Western Idaho, finishing in 2018. I now want to begin a career in freelance writing. I also have a book in mind that I want to begin writing on survivorship.

30 mph below speed limit is way too slow

So how are you all enjoying driving on those semi-wet roads out there? Well, as far as I'm concerned, they don't bother me one iota, but they do seem to bother a lot of other drivers, whether it is the young, new driver fresh out of driving school or the folks at the brink of their driving career.

Caufield letter: Don't donate junk | Idaho Statesman

Please feel free to take my opinion ... or leave it. The other day, as I drove into my local gas station's parking lot, I noticed one of those donation drop-offs that are spread around the Treasure Valley. Though I have never left donations, I know they are meant for clothing and small items which can fit inside.

Inspiring Ink: 8 Leukemia Tattoos

Everyone with leukemia has a unique experience living with the disease, which some choose to capture in a tattoo. Tattoos can act as inspiration for strength, to show solidarity with survivors, or even honor a loved one. We rounded up some of these inspirational tattoos to share with the leukemia community.

People tend to think that cancer will never affect them. I know, because I was once one of those people. Growing up, I never knew of anyone that had cancer. Then, in 2005, my father-in-law contracted a brain tumor; the worst type.

Kelly Caufield's Story Every 3 minutes someone gets handed a diagnosis of a blood cancer and every 9 minutes a blood cancer steals someone's life. Unfortunately, my father was a statistic to both. In January of 2016, my dad developed what we initially thought to be allergies which turned into a sinus infection.

Are There Angels Among Us?

It was not that long ago, early in the evening, when our telephone rang. I know that this may not seem strange to you, but you must understand, that where we live, there is no cell service; which means that other than solicitors, we rarely get calls.
