Jordan Mulder

Pop Culture Commentator

United States

My name is Jordan and I am a student of pop culture. Growing up in the midst of the late nineties and early 2000's allowed me to cultivate interests that ranged from everything spooky to medieval history. This love for media cultivated an interest in me that has yet to let go and resulted in both a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Cosmetology degree. Having both helped me refine both technical and creative skills while cultivating social connections. As a cosmetologist I worked hard at forging both personal and professional connections that helped my business and community. These connections were solidified through extensive writing and research. I pride myself on my ability to extract the most important nuggets of information to provide the best commentary and research that I can. In my spare time I write about -you guessed it- pop culture. This can range from the latest horror movies, anime critiques, and gender analysis of cult thrillers. I'm also working on my own novel, but let's keep things a little mysterious.

Minky Momo Is The Magical Girl Who Started It All - OTAQUEST

The magical girl genre is a personal favorite of not only myself, but millions of others. And for more than good reason. The genre has something for everybody; from the spookiest to the softest of folks. The genre has dozens of shows, all with powerful characters at the helm.

Anime Crimes Division's Ode To Anime

"In Neo Otaku City, there are two kinds of people. The kind of people that can recite the Sailor Moon theme song from memory in the original Japanese, and the kind that don't belong there. When someone commits a crime against anime, they don't call the police. They call: the Anime Crimes Division."

#Crucial21DbW: Soulmate directed by Axelle Carolyn

It's easy to take a glance at Soulmate and cast it as a stereotypical ghost story. It has all the classic elements: a grieving widow, an isolated village constantly covered in a thin veil of mist, prying neighbors. But the film sets out to change your mind as quickly as possible.

Hell is the Midwest

This was an article researching all things spooky in the Midwest. Unfortunately the publication went defunct before it could be published.

Shibuya Goldfish Volume 1 Review

In "Shibuya Goldfish", Giant goldfish are devouring people left and right. It sounds right out of a movie, something aspiring filmmaker & protagonist Hajime Tsukiyoda can't help but notice. Unfortunately for the young film buff, it's anything but, as he's trapped amongst survivors in a shopping district.
