Johnny Flores Jr. is a recent graduate of the University of Southern California with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Sports Media Studies.
Over the course of his four years at USC, Flores participated in a variety of internship experiences, beginning with his time at his hometown newspaper, the Desert Sun, as a sports reporting intern. Flores spent consecutive summers at the Desert Sun, where he also served as a digital producer, utilizing skills he learned as a web producer for USA TODAY SPORTS during the fall of his sophomore year.
Additionally, Flores spent time with the New York Times as a member of its prestigious Student Journalism Institute. There he served as a copyeditor as part of the class of 2018. Shortly after, he began several months with Yahoo! Sports, where he served as a social media editor for its MLB vertical. An intern to start, Flores was eventually made a freelancer as well as given editorial responsibilities. His time with Yahoo! Sports culminated at the 2018 World Series, where he provided social and written coverage.
In 2019, Flores continued to cover the sport of baseball, first as a freelancer with La Vida Baseball and later as a digital content producer with the company. During his time with La Vida Baseball, Flores wrote a variety of features and news stories centered on Latinos within the sport. He also returned to the postseason where he covered the National League Championship Series in Washington, D.C.

Palm Springs police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Thursday afternoon along the Murray Peak hiking trail.
