Honduras is undergoing its second coup in eight years, but most Americans are unaware, much less of the US's role in undermining democracy there. If you live in the United States, you would have to be forgiven for not realizing that a constitutional crisis is happening within a two-and-a-half-hour plane ride from Miami.
It's important that so many people were paying attention to the inhumane and criminal treatment that refugee and asylum-seeking immigrant families faced at the hands of the US government. However, we'll continue to see a humanitarian crisis at our border whether or not the Trump administration stops separating families. Why?
