Is it time for an X Prize for fundraising?
Could an incentive prize for fundraising or philanthropy, like the X Prizes for technology and business, help transform social good?
Howard Lake is a digital fundraising entrepreneur, with over 35 years experience in the fundraising sector. He is exploring growing giving on a massive scale to lift all charities and good causes.
After working for Oxfam, Afghanaid and Amnesty International, he founded UK Fundraising (fundraising.co.uk) in 1994, the world’s first web resource for professional fundraisers. He wrote the first book on online fundraising in 1996, and since then has trained thousands of fundraisers in all aspects of digital fundraising.
Consistently voted in the 50 most influential in fundraising by readers of Fundraising magazine, he was elected a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, and has served as judge or chair of the judging panel for its National Fundraising Awards for over 10 years.
He founded Fundraising Camp, and co-founded Barcamp Nonprofits and GoodJobs, the social enterprise jobs board.
He successfully sold UK Fundraising in 2022. He is founder of Giving X Ltd, and works extensively with Revolutionise International, helping organisations grow their fundraising at scale and pace.
