Social work grad gains a new outlook - SOURCE

Nominated as one of the School of Social Work's outstanding graduates, Graby is a veteran of the U.S. Army, husband and father who graduated in December from Colorado State University with his degree in social work from the College of Health and Human Sciences.

Denver Rams Give Back

To Neil Cowan ('94), the words on the Colorado State University seal-education, service, extension, research-aren't just words, they're promises to the Colorado community. Three years ago, Cowan connected with the Denver Ram Network's Amanda Wolz and began a new service mission to help The Urban Farm in Stapleton-a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing work experience and a welcoming community in a farm setting to inner city youth.

Social work senior plans career helping Latino community

Ray Rios discovered his passion as a B.S.W. student by recognizing a need in his own community. "The inspiration that led me to social work is the struggle of my people," said Rios. "I identify as a Latino male and grew up in a community that faces many different types of struggles."

Kathy Benedict: Disease Detective

For many Americans, 2014's Ebola epidemic in West Africa began and ended with the four imported cases reported in the United States. For the people of Sierra Leone and neighboring countries, it's an ongoing health crisis-a crisis that Kathy Benedict (Ph.D. '11, D.V.M. ’13) and her fellow Epidemic Intelligence Service officers were charged with combating for six weeks earlier this year.
