Lake Minnetonka is home to 2 ecological rarities
MINNETONKA - Long before the west metro was covered in concrete and buildings, the area was a large forest referred to by ecologists as the Big Woods. The Big Woods covered 2,000 square miles between Monticello and Mankato. Today, the forest type only exists in small patches across the previously covered area.
