I have believed in the power of impassioned words since delivering my fourth grade speech titled “Our School is a Cheeseburger.” The theme was that combining different ingredients creates something wonderful, and my confidence in that conviction hasn’t changed. We are at our best when we come together, and I want to write and speak in support of equitable and ethical change.

I am a skilled communicator in multiple formats, including short and long-form copy, press releases, marketing materials, and public speaking. I have built relationships with local and national groups to develop and execute PR campaigns; organize, promote, and manage events; and create content for social and traditional media using SEO and AP style guidelines (but you can pry the Oxford comma from my cold, dead hands). My education and experience has also given me knowledge of G Suite, WordPress, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, and PR Newswire.

Everyone has a story to share, and living across the country has allowed me to learn from varied voices. I’m grateful to have formed relationships with diverse communities, because understanding is fostered through celebrating our differences.

To my dismay, reading "The Baby-Sitters Club" series did not prepare me for motherhood; in reality, I am raising Calvin from Bill Watterson’s comic strip. Parenting has taught me to (try to) embrace the chaos, and I enjoy honestly writing about relatable life experiences. One of my favorite sayings is: “Tell the story of the mountain you climbed - your words could become a page in someone’s survival guide.” While our differences make us unique, we are still connected by our stories.

I’m ready to use my communications background to enact positive societal change by sharing different viewpoints, exposing injustices, calling for action, and inspiring others to speak up. I’m committed to my fourth grade metaphor, cheesy as it may be, because we all deserve a place in life’s cheeseburger.

Navigating Motherhood with Mental Illness

"To say that motherhood has been hard on me would be a massive understatement. I have felt broken for lacking the maternal instinct that seems to come so naturally to others. Every day – even the ones where nothing goes wrong – has been a struggle."
