Freelance Sports Reporter for The Danville Register and Bee

As my job title says, I am a freelance sports reporter for The Danville Register & Bee — a seven-day daily that unless you're from Southern or Central Virginia, you've probably never heard of. But hey, you've got to start the dream somewhere.
I've been with the paper for roughly a year and in that time, I've served as beat reporter for Averett University athletics along with Dan River region high school teams and the Danville Braves — Atlanta's Rookie-level affiliate. Even though I don't make a ton of money, I make enough to cover the bills and it almost seems unfair I get paid to cover sporting events for a living.
I am also a freelance broadcaster, mostly doing work with Averett athletics, where I serve as the play-by-play broadcaster/sound and video engineer for volleyball, men's and women's soccer, football, baseball and softball.
In my spare time, I am the operator of a blog titled Page 3, where I cover human interest stories from high school and collegiate teams in Virginia and North Carolina. I hope, in time, to build a electronic news magazine to accompany the blog.
My interests include more than sports journalism, however. I also enjoy playing guitar and mandolin and love having the bejesus scared out of me by a good movie.
