Communications Specialist

United States

Before I became a Communications Specialist, I was a newspaper reporter. I covered everything from sports and education, to breaking news and city council meetings. I also worked for a specialty add-on magazine for the newspaper, which was at the special request from the editor.
My beginnings in the world of journalism started as an intern for a local paper and traveling overseas to Spain and Portugal for Alpine Living Magazine.
Since I became a Communications Specialist four years ago, I have been able to write promotional materials for our office outlining new projects, award commendations and breaking news articles regarding our efforts.
I have always had an affinity for writing, both creatively and from a journalist's perspective. Because of these capabilities, I find one of the most rewarding things I can do is help create a world from someone's story, because everyone has a story to tell.

Video games: Coming soon to a cupcake near you

Cupcakes, video games and all things sweet and different, will collide in the delicious vision that Misty McAlhany has for Lolee's Cupcade. Both words in the shop's name are mash-ups of some of the biggest parts of McAlhany's world: Logan Lee turns into Lolee for her 10-year-old daughter, and the Cupcade is a combination of cupcake and arcade.
