In the face of danger: ESCHER, Virginia Tech's firefighting robot primed for extreme heat conditions

ESCHER was originally created at the beginning of 2015 in the Terrestrial Robotics Engineering and Controls Laboratory. ESCHER is short for Electronic Series Compliant Humanoid for Emergency Response. "The special application for this project is the idea that ESCHER could go on naval ships and fight fires and go places that would normally be hazardous to humans," said Meaghan Dee, assistant professor and chair of Visual Communications.

Former Tomb Guards inspire Corps of Cadets

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets assembled in Burruss Hall to hear from three former members of one of the most honorable regiments in the United States Army. The panel revolved around the documentary "The Unknowns," a film that chronicles the history and training of the Guards for the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington, Virginia.

Virginia Tech professor pushes politics with poster art

When Chris Pritchett became frustrated with the political atmosphere of the country, he wanted to use his skills as a screen printer to make a positive change. As a Virginia Tech professor at the College of Architecture and Urban Studies and an experienced artist, he decided to create 46 Posters.
