Brigade win Cowdin Cup for second straight season

In late May, the Junction City Brigade convened for the first time at Rathert Field. A lot entered Junction City from different backgrounds and other parts of the country, but a lot of them had similar goals for the summer.

JCHS names Testa new girls basketball coach

One of Junction City's own is coming home. JCHS graduate Tim Testa has been hired as the school's new girls basketball coach. It was a position he was interested in as soon as he saw that former coach Derek Petty would not be returning, and he went through the process from there.

Junction City's Kody Westerhaus competes in state tournament

It began in Junction City tennis player Kody Westerhaus's sophomore year when coach Matthew Micheel felt his team needed a lift. Westerhaus delivered on Micheel's request in a big way. "We had a group of like six seniors who played the whole regionals," Micheel said.

McDaniel brothers set eyes on the future after winning Cowdin Cup

Brothers Trae and Thane McDaniel celebrated a Cowdin Cup championship together on Saturday night, but their next steps will be quite different. Trae will be saying goodbye to the game he has loved since he was 4 years old, while Thane will be starting a new chapter in his story.

Fort Riley Tax Center offering free services to soldiers for 17th year

Fort Riley soldiers held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the Fort Riley Tax Center Friday morning. This is the 17th year that the tax center has been open and available to use for soldiers. The ceremony was organized to get the word out about the tax center, and inform Fort Riley soldiers and families where they can get free tax assistance.

STEM Fair participants conduct experiments on different cereal brands, dirty mouths and...

Junction City Middle School hosted a STEM Fair Wednesday night, giving its students - as well as those from nearby elementary schools - an opportunity to showcase their talents. The students each operated their own station with poster board displayed that detailed their project, as visitors browsed around taking in some of the projects.
