There's Lots of Tech Help, Yes, on the Internet

Sites with moderators are a plus because they will help weed out irrelevant or duplicate answers and keep the discussion on topic. There are also good fee-based sites like Experts Exchange (secure.experts-exchange.com/), but I've limited the below list to free help. PCs One of my favorite tech support sites is FixYa.com ( www.fixya.com/).

'Iranian Hercules' Withdraws From Games

Weightlifter Hossein Rezazadeh, the two-time gold medalist from Iran, has pulled out of the Beijing Games because of medical reasons, state television reported Thursday. Nicknamed the "Iranian Hercules," Rezazadeh was told by doctors not to engage in any "heavy and stressful activity."

Zipcar Licenses Car-Share System

Zipcar, the car-sharing service that lets people rent by the hour, is now sharing its proprietary car-management technology with the public sector. Officially unveiled in Washington on Tuesday after a pilot run that began last year, FastFleet allows fleet operators, like those from governments and universities, to license Zipcar's technology to help them adopt a shared-car service system.

Dell Calls 'Green' MacBook Ads Misleading

As my colleague Joe Hutsko has previously written, consumers want, but remain skeptical about, eco-electronics. Turns out they're not alone. The electronics manufacturer Dell recently took its competitor Apple to task for advertising that its Macbook line was "the world's greenest family of notebooks" (see video above).

Spotify Finally Comes to the iPad

After many, many requests, popular music streaming service Spotify finally introduced its iPad app Wednesday. The new app, free during a trial period and $10 thereafter for a premium subscription, offers more features than its iPhone counterpart, including a newly created "Now Playing" full-screen viewing option.

Apple Updates iOS 5.1

After releasing iOS 5.1 back in March, Apple has released a minor software update for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. The update, iOS 5.1.1, largely addresses bugs including an AirPlay video bug that affected playback for some users.

Finally, download a free power-management tool. These applications will show you how much energy you can save by adjusting various settings and will make those adjustments for you in a few clicks. Google's Energy Saver (http://desktop.google.com/plugins/i/energysaver.html ) will, in addition, show you the collective energy savings of everyone using the product; it also integrates into Google's own Desktop application.
