It’s days like this that remind me that it can be tough being a sports fan. (Not necessarily tough in the sense of a societal or systemic struggle, but tough like first world problems.)
A starry-eyed 10 year old travels down a dirt path, fresh new baseball cap on and electronic device in hand. Suddenly a rustle in the bushes alerts the child, bringing forth a small bird. Reaching for a red and white ball, the child throws it towards the bird, capturing the creature as part of a collection.

Last week I spent four days in Minneapolis (again) to attend my sister's commencement over at the University of Minnesota. Oh yeah, so my sister got her PhD. And that is phenomenal. She is the first person out of anyone in my extended family to earn a PhD.
