Revised Southwest LRT project looks for municipal consent

The Southwest Light Rail Transit project is moving toward an Oct. 11 goal to obtain consent from the five cities along the line for a new scope that reduced the route's length and number of stations. Officials gave project updates Wednesday at a meeting of the Corridor Management Committee.

Greenway Heights creates room for families

It took more than a decade and the help of 11 major funders, but the affordable Greenway Heights Family Housing building designed for large families is up and running. Manufacturing jobs fall in Minnesota

The 2010 Minnesota Manufacturers Register says that industrial employment in Minnesota has fallen by 6.4 percent in the last two years. The state lost 31,385 manufacturing jobs between September 2007 and September 2009.

Bankers do more turnaround & restructuring, less M&A

Quarterly bank results improving, but more regulation may slow growth

The second quarter of 2010 was primarily a good one for banks nationwide; the U.S. Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. reported in August that FDIC-insured banks had posted their best quarterly results in three years, with a $21.6 billion profit in the second quarter.
