Track team looks to sprint ahead this season

The 2014 Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs track team has lofty hopes for the upcoming season. Following a promising fifth-place finish under coach David Wellman, the new team has great potential. In the 2013 season, seven athletes qualified for state meets and 14 athletes qualified for the NorCal Finals.

Bear Cubs pitching shuts things down

Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs (5-2) are fourth in the Big 8 conference. Following a 2-1 start to the year, the Bear Cubs have won three of the past four games behind dominant pitching. Against Laney College where the Bear Cubs won 6-1, five Bear Cubs drove in runs.

Bear Cubs softball beats Ohlone College, West Valley

SRJC leads conference by two wins Santa Rosa Junior College softball has gotten off to a hot start, winning all nine of its first nine games. After starting 6-0 in conference the Bear Cubs advanced to 7-0 after a 3-1 victory over Ohlone College Feb. 11.

Young Dre makes his way

After two years as a Bear Cub, junior Andre Davis is entering his first year of playing football at Kansas State University. He received a football scholarship after pulling in 41 catches for 841 yards in addition to eight total touchdowns.

SRJC picks up first league victory in nail-biter

The Santa Rosa Junior College women's softball team (16-4, 1-2) picked up their first league win of the season after defeating Modesto College 9-8 March 11. "Coming off the Sierra games, we had to really buckle down and realize what we were capable of," said sophomore Krissy Pardoski.

SRJC softball sweeps Diablo Valley in doubleheader

The Santa Rosa Junior College softball team (21-7, 6-5) got back to its winning ways in a two-game sweep over Diablo Valley College with an 8-1 and 5-1 win March 28. The Bear Cubs had been in a bit of a slump, going 5-5 in their last 10 games.

Inconsistent offense causes Bear Cubs to struggle

Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs dropped to 21-8 overall, and 6-5 in conference play. The pouring rain subsided finally in Santa Rosa to allow the Bear Cubs and Solano to finally face one another this season. The Bear Cubs and Solano were rained out the previous week.

Quarterback Colin Kaepernick helped the 49ers get to consecutive National Football Conference Championship games, and made a Super Bowl appearance in 2012. The question is does Kaepernick deserve to be paid among the elite quarterbacks in the league? Kaepernick is entering the final season of the contract he signed as a rookie back in 2011.

Bear Cubs advance past San Jose by the long ball

The Santa Rosa Junior College softball team swept San Jose City College over its two-game set May 3 and May 4. In the first game, SRJC sent out staff ace Megan Winters to take the mound. She pitched well but committed some errors pitching to three unearned runs.
